We auctioned off each of the large format prints featured at our launch event and exhibition, with all proceeds going to the London College of Communication. This auction closed at the end of October 2016, thank you to all those who took part.
The unsigned standard version of Steven Wilson's print is however still available to buy here
An illustrator living and working in Brighton, Steven Wilson brings his own brand of pop and psychedelia to his highly regarded work – much of which can be found adorning album covers. Steve mines obscure books and discarded paraphernalia for inspiration for his experimental pieces.
“My design is based on a technique that I developed in the last few years. I have always enjoyed taking form and then abstracting it and that is the case with my approach for Strut and Fibre. I have drawn the word ‘hello’ quite simply out of lines but then made it abstract by merging it into the background. The aim with it, as with a lot of my work, is to ask the viewer to look at something they are familiar with in a different way.”

London College of Communication
Strut and Fibre are supporting young print design talent by working with London College of Communication. The proceeds from this auction will mean more graduates can access LCC’s unique print facilities after completing their courses. It will help LCC open their print workshops at the weekend and in the evenings, giving graduates who want to continue developing their print practise a chance they couldn’t otherwise afford.
LCC’s letterpress workshop holds one of the UK’s largest collections of lead and wood type, while the print making workshop includes screen printing, etching, solar plate, collograph, embossing, lino cut, photo lithography and much more. Equipment from the 1880s combines with cutting edge technology, all guided by expert technicians. Increased weekend and evening opening means a diverse range of LCC graduate print makers can use these facilities, without compromising work or caring responsibilities.
